Making the case for ending poor working conditions world wide, we at La Buena Vida continue our quest for products created in decent environments for the employees. We also continue to search for organic products which don’t sacrifice quality, but enhance the benefit of taste with organic ingredients.
One of our chocolate vendors El Sauco, represents a wonderful company called Booja Booja. The Booja Booja Company
out of Norfolk, England makes award-winning (more than 45 awards since they started in 1999!!) chocolate truffles. Unlike other companies these truffles are dairy-free, organic, gluten free, cholestrol free and vegan. Many of them also have no added sugar and are soya free. We carry their popular Champagne truffles, Raspberry truffles and the Midnight Espresso truffles…but for Easter they brought us something special and unique:
Fair Trade hand-painted wooden boxes (think Faberge) with fresh organic truffles inside. These special gifts sold out quickly, and I re-ordered the small and large ones last week….only to hear the small ones are all gone…so we are down to our last three large Easter eggs. The sweetest thing about the Booja Booja Easter eggs is they directly benefit a community of Kashmiri artists who make the eggs from local material and then paint them by hand in beautifully intricate designs.
So if you are looking for a beautiful unique gift which is also classic and tasty, drop into La Buena Vida, where we make giving responsible Fair Trade gifts even easier-but don’t wait, they are going FAST!
Happy Easter…Vrolijk Pasen…from your friends at La Buena Vida Den Haag.
